Hello, fellow golfers
I thought I would start off this month’s newsletter with a short feedback from the lady’s jersey knitting project. Our lady captain, Leone Brandt, and a few lady members went to deliver the jerseys to the maternity section of Charlette Maxeke Hospital and as Leone said, it was an experience of note. They met some of the babies and mothers and both the mothers and staff thanked our ladies.
Once again, our ladies splashed out for Spring Day, well done girls. Below are some pics taken during the day.
Unfortunately, our president, Bill Bailey has been admitted back to hospital and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Our last Captain’s draw was held on Friday 31st August and was a real festive occasion. The jackpot was once again not won and will now be R35 000 at the next draw which promises to be a bumper affair. Mel Miller and Tony Stewart will be providing some comic entertainment and Brian’s Halfway House will be preparing some special dishes for sale for supper. Hope to see you all there.
The joker draw is in full swing every Wednesday evening at 17:30 and your presence would be highly appreciated.
I would like to congratulate all the knockout winners thus far and urge all our participants in all the knockout competitions to stick to the dates provided for the different rounds.
It made me extremely proud to be part of our junior section when they played against Roodepoort Country Club recently. Special mention was made by the Ruimsig manager regarding our team’s excellent manners and great sportsmanship. Well done. A braai will be held in the near future for this team.

The new handicap system will be implemented this month and I am sure that we will experience a few teething problems before it will start running smoothly. We ask all our golfers to be patient until this is up and running properly. I have done a few calculations and there is not that much difference to speak of regarding all our current handicaps.
Our greens keeper has started the top-dressing program for all our tee boxes and it will not be long before these are back in excellent shape again.
You will also notice that the lapa is being rethatched now and it should be completed within the first two weeks of the month.
Cheers till next time.
