Well fellow member of Krugersdorp Golf Club we have reached the middle of winter and I must tell you I am extremely proud to be playing my golf on our course. For a winter course our course is looking very good. The bunkers are improving but still require a little work. According to Derek, our golf director, they need a lot of work but from the talk under the lapa it seems like the bulk of our members are satisfied with the work done already.
Our thoughts are still with Bill Bailey, our president, and we wish him a speedy recovery.
Our last Captain’s draw was held on Friday 29th June and was very well attended. I suspect that the next one will be even better attended as the jackpot now stands at R30 000. The curry and rice that was sold by the halfway house was enjoyed by all who had. John Berks was in attendance and chatted about his life in the radio business. He was promoting his biography and judging by what I observed he sold several books on the night. Thanks to Pierre for arranging LJB.
Our league sides are doing very well presently. The Handicap betterball league is coming to an end soon and it looks like this team will be winning their division. They are still unbeaten after seven games.
League Results: Mid-am: Played 7, won 2, halved 1, 5th on log
Betterball: Played 7, won 7, 1st on log
Juniors: Played 7, won 2, halved 1, 7th on log
Scratch A: Played 2, won 1, 3rd on log
Scratch B: Played 2, won 2, 1st on log
All players that have entered respective knockouts must please ensure that their games are played by the designated dates or they will be DQed. Congratulations to all the winners thus far.
A fun golf day is planned for the 9th August, Woman’s Day, with the format being three Jacks and a Jill. There will be no extra cost but there will be some extra prizes and some interesting and fun aspects in the format.
May you have a great golfing month and chat later.
