I have to start off by apologising to all the members, it has been almost a year, and this is my first attempt at a Captain’s Corner article. Totally unacceptable!!
I have no idea what I am doing, but hopefully you will read this and if all goes well, this can become a great platform for open and honest communication between us.
So far 2017 has been extremely wet, the Vaal dam has risen from 26% in October 2016 to 100% on Monday 27 February 2017. Although it has affected the number of rounds played at Krugersdorp, not to mention the reduced BAR sales, we are extremely thankful for the rain and pray that the Western Cape whose average dam levels are at just 31% is also blessed with good rains in the next couple of months. Hereunder is a summary of the rounds played at Krugersdorp during the first 3 weeks of February.
|Week 1||Week 2||Week 3||Week 4||February 2017 to date|
|ROUNDS PLAYED||765||723||753||0||2 241||%|
|Groups / Sponsored days||104||45||153||0||302||13%|
The overall condition of course, considering all the rain, is amazing. I have a couple of requests though, please repair your pitch marks and fill your divots on the fairways. It is our responsibility as members to ensure that we look after our course and especially our greens. I know I can count on everyone to do their part, THANKS!
In closing let’s discuss the difference between “Chips & Peanuts” and “Popcorn”. During the last week or so we have switched from “chips and peanuts” after the game to “popcorn”, is this good or bad? Based on the feedback I have personally received “chips and peanuts” is the preferred after round snack. What is your preference? Please post your comments on the website.
